By 2035, Brazil's Guodian will invest 1.1 billion US dollars in power infrastructure

[Cable Network News] According to a long-term strategic plan recently released, Brazil's state-owned power company Eletrobras plans to invest 6 billion reais (US$1.1 billion) a year to expand its power generation and transmission infrastructure by 2035.

As the largest electric power company in Latin America, Eletrobras said in a securities filing that “if the government successfully privatizes the company, the annual investment may double to 12.6 billion reais.”

Brazil’s Energy Minister said last week that the privatization of Eletrobras is a priority for the government. However, this requires the approval of Congress and faces daunting political pressure.
