Ankaite won the German North Sea submarine DC system BorWin5 order

[Cable Network News] A few days ago, Germany and the Dutch power grid operator TenneT signed a cable contract with Anker High Voltage Cable, which will provide the underground and submarine DC cables required for its offshore wind farm connection system BorWin5.
It is understood that BorWin5 is the 15th offshore grid connection system and the 12th DC cable connection system implemented by TenneT in the German North Sea, with a total length of about 230 kilometers, which is the longest submarine DC connection system so far.
BorWin5 is the second project after DolWin5, in which the wind turbine is directly connected to the offshore platform BorWin epsilon through a 66 kV three-phase power cable. This eliminates the substations previously required for every wind farm. In addition, 155 kV three-phase current cables are no longer needed to connect the TenneT offshore platform to the wind farm.
TenneT uses a 230-kilometer-long ultra-high voltage DC cable to use low-loss DC technology after conversion to transmit power to the Garrel/East conversion station on land. Here, the direct current is converted back to three-phase alternating current and fed into the ultra-high voltage grid.
