Ecuador plans to build a new submarine cable to connect the Galapagos Islands

[Cable News] Ecuador’s President Lenin Moreno recently revealed in the media that Ecuador is building a new submarine cable to connect Ecuador’s mainland and the Galapagos Islands.

Local media El Universo reported that the project will connect Manta and the Galapagos Islands, with a total length of 1,200 kilometers and a total cost of 50 million US dollars, aimed at further improving the quality of the local Internet connection.

Currently, the project is performing potential path testing and is expected to be completed and put into operation in May 2021.
