Two International Submarine Optical Cable Systems Are Allowed To Land In the United States

[Cable News] The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved a project proposed by Pacific Carriage Limited (PCL) and Southern Cross Cables Limited to land and operate the Southern Cross NEXT submarine optical cable system in the United States.

According to reports, the system connects Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Tokelau, Kiribati and California (United States).

The new Southern Cross NEXT cable is expected to receive RFS certification in January 2022, bringing the total design capacity between Sydney (Australia), Auckland (New Zealand) and the United States to 72Tbps.

At the same time, the FCC agreed to RTI Connectivity (RTI) to land in the United States and operate the JGA-N submarine optical cable system connecting Japan, Guam, and northern Australia to the southern United States. The total venue is approximately 2,600 kilometers and the design capacity reaches 24Tbps.

In the middle of this month, on July 14, the US FCC has approved the landing and operation of the JGA-S submarine optical cable system. The system mainly connects mainland Japan, Guam and southern Australia.
