[Cable Network News] Huawei Marine Network (HMN) recently announced that it has completed the maritime survey of the Maldives-Sri Lanka Submarine Optical Cable (MSC), which aims to connect Hulhumale, an island in the Maldives Islands, to Sri Lanka Mount Vigna.

 

It is understood that this 840km long MSC submarine cable system will include four pairs of optical fibers and will be equipped with a Huawei high-output titanium shell repeater deployed at a water depth of 3700m.

The cable will be owned and operated by an investor consortium including Ooredoo Maldives, Dhiraagu and Sri Lankan telecommunications operator Dialog Axiata. Dhiraagu and Ooredoo Maldives will each hold 45% of the cable, and the remaining 10% will be owned by Dialog Axiata.

According to the plan, the submarine cable system will be put into use by the end of 2020 (RFS).
